Line striping is a lucrative branch of your asphalt maintenance company. However, finding quality paint is difficult, as is understanding what makes each paint unique. At Asphalt Kingdom, you will find high-quality line paints that exceed expectations on asphalt.

Items to Consider While Choosing a Line Paint

There are two primary considerations when choosing paint for line striping. The first is the age since the asphalt was laid. The second is what treatments have happened to the top of the asphalt. These factors change which line paints adhere best.

Additionally, you’ll want to know how long each paint type dries in your climate. This factor can be immensely helpful, especially if a client wants their parking lot opened quickly.

Aerosol Line Paint

Aerosol paint is an excellent option for small line striping jobs. The easy to apply paint is highly durable. As a bonus, the paint Action Seal sells works on fresh asphalt. The bright, solid lines will make navigating the parking lot a breeze.

Waterborne / Latex Line Paint

While exposing a waterborne paint to the elements may sound wrong, waterborne is a great option these days. Waterborne asphalt paint is more likely to adhere properly to any asphalt with a water sealcoating on top. You can also easily use refractive beads with this paint.

Latex does not necessarily refer to latex anymore. This term now means any paint that is not oil-based. These paints are still outstanding with reliable color coverage and adherence. Generally, you want to apply waterborne / latex paint to asphalt that has cured for at least 30 days.

Oil-Based Asphalt Paint

Oil-based line paint is the choice if you need the area to dry quickly. Each layer of asphalt paint takes only 30 minutes to dry under ideal conditions. You will also appreciate the vibrancy and durability of the color.

The trick with oil-based paints is its durability. It does not just work as asphalt paint. In truth, it also works on concrete. If your company has branched out to indoor work in commercial spaces, choosing oil-based paint means you can tackle both surfaces from a single bucket.

Gorilla Strength Latex Asphalt Paint

The gorilla strength is a variation of latex line paint. This choice offers incredible durability and maintains its color reliably. It’s a practical choice for painting over existing lines or areas that need to be ready for surface traffic within hours, not days.

The difference between standard oil-based and gorilla line paints is the dry time. Gorilla line paint is thicker and has more solids. This change causes it to dry faster. However, you will need to allot more time to clean the paint sprayer before each color change. The paint tends to stick quickly inside.
